Estimator – Landscape & Design
  • Start date: When we find the right candidate
  • Where: ByNature, 490 – 1000 Parker street, Vancouver, BC, V6A 2H2.
  • Hours: 8 am – 4 pm at 40 hrs/week minimum
    (occasionally in the evenings and week-ends – mostly for events and tradeshows)
  • Incentive: Great environment and great atmosphere
  • Salary range: $41 000 – $46 000

We are looking for an interior landscape estimator to embrace ByNature’s vision and be part of a growing business located in one of the greenest offices in Vancouver.

At ByNature Design we strive to connect people with nature by offering products and services that bring interiors to life and make people feel good. We have been growing steadily. Started in 2012, ByNature now has two offices (Vancouver and Toronto) and a team of 10+ happy individuals with an enthusiasm for plants.

You will be working directly with our project manager on new projects from the estimation phase to design and completion. We are looking for somebody who is a quick-learner, logical, trustworthy, independent, responsible and professional.

Please be sure you have the following requirements before applying:
– A valid work permit (Canadian citizen or permanent resident).
– Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel).
– A valid driver’s license.

The following skills would be an asset:
– Experience in design software (Photoshop, CAD or Sketchup)
– Bilingual French/English.
– Previous experience in project estimation in either horticulture or construction industry.
– A degree/training in horticulture or landscape design (plant knowledge is a must).

Tasks & Responsibilities

Internally, you will work closely with our project manager and our production team to build quotations, assist with designs and help manage project schedules and timelines. You will need to provide some quality control to ensure products are manufactured according to our specifications. Your plant knowledge will help provide insight and knowledge on plant physiology and environmental requirements.

You will also have to manage client expectations and make sure that all projects are met with satisfaction and completion within the lead times quoted.

Most importantly, you will need to be highly organized, flexible to deal with variable conditions on site and on the fly, and be a great problem solver.

The position consists of the following tasks:

  • Prepare project quotations, production plans, schedules, and material requirements,
  • Interact with customers to clearly understand business needs and expectations,
  • Analyze and resolve project issues in a timely and accurate manner,
  • Work with the sales team to develop integrated biophilic features, Ensure project completion and client requests in a professional manner.

Eligibility Requirements Summary

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task,
  • Must have some plant knowledge (you will also learn a lot with us),
  • Proactive and able to adapt to unexpected issues and situations,
  • Must be courteous, reliable, diligent and be able to work independently,
  • Must be able to handle requests on the fly and manage work efficiently under stress.

Requirements

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree in logistics, engineering or operations
  • 3+ years experience with ERP and process improvement as you will have to develop the new ERP
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgement in stressful situations
  • Management experience in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment
  • Bilingual English/French is a plus
